Hockey is considered Canada's official sport. But shovelling snow is the activity that gets more hearts pumping across the country than anything else.

809 Montreal Winter, Young Family, 6x6, oil

sold
I saw this young family trudging through the snow and just had to paint them. Later they will sit down (rosy cheeks) to a warm lunch in a cozy Montreal apartment.

802 Montreal Under Snow, 6x6, Oil

sold-USA (Hawaii)
This is Montreal Est under snow. This charming area used to be called the Molasses quarter because there was a Molasses factory here that employed many in the neighbourhood. There was a time when Montreal had many factories.

634 Plum Blossoms

SOLD
The streets are lined with blossoming trees. I picked up these little plum blossoms on my way to the Empress this morning. I don't know about the purple block but I like the green pattern on the back cloth. I also like the way the blossoms turned out.

622 The Perfect Match,Japan Dolls

Sold
I found these at my favourite consignment store last year and have been hesitating to paint them. I don't have a steady hand even with a mahl stick.  Well, finally I applied myself to the task. They are a cute couple.

620 Simply Salt

How could I paint the pepper mill without painting the salt shaker. Tomorrow I'll be doing a painting demo at Glenlyon Norfolk School from 1 to 4 at the Victoria Sketch Club Show. In case anyone wants to come visit. I will bring my set up. It's quite portable. I don't know what I'll bring to paint. Maybe a jar of dandelions. Hmmmm.
My set up, beginning and finished.
