748 Guy Talk

Sold-Victoria BC
I composed this from two different sketches. Well maybe a little too much titanium white…chalky. But I like the narrative. I posted the sketch for it on my illustration blog.

652 Bouquet from the Empress Lobby

sold-Toronto
This is a painting of the bouquet from the Empress lobby. Each week it is replace with a new one. These bouquets are works of art in themselves. They are usually large and fragrant. They are titled. This one is called "Sly Fox" as it is dominated by Foxtails. I painted it the other day when the flowers were still quite closed.

622 The Perfect Match,Japan Dolls

Sold
I found these at my favourite consignment store last year and have been hesitating to paint them. I don't have a steady hand even with a mahl stick.  Well, finally I applied myself to the task. They are a cute couple.

Sidney today

"Jill" on display at Mary Winspear Centre

I went to Sidney this morning to paint with the sketch club. It was raining and I couldn't find them so I visited the Mary Winspear Centre as I thought someone there would know the precise place to find the Sketch club people. No luck on that, but I did get a chance to see my little painting "Jill" before her new owner picks her up. "Jill" was on display at the centre. There was also a newspaper clipping about the Sidney plenaire paint out.

Robert Genn was the juror. He gave my painting of Jill a prize. I believe it was 3rd prize.
