The Lost Leonardo

This is a copy of Ruben's copy of the Lost Battle of Anghiari. The original was thought to have been painted in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence.   It is believed that Da Vinci was trying out a new fresco method probably used cassin to paint on plaster. Over time the painting was consumed by mould.
I really liked the composition of this painting and felt it would be a good exercise (as well as a change from my own painting).

698 Sun Flowers in a Jar

These are the same sunflowers from last week. I started this painting Sunday night and left everything set up and took a couple of days away from the studio at the Empress. Today I went in and started working on it again.  I had to lower the water line in the jar as it had evaporated (or the flowers drank it) over the two days. I decided to leave out the dark shadows from the flowers were casting on the blue cloth as I found it make the composition too cluttered.
Available $350 plus $20 s/h

697 Maple Leaf, Watercolour

This is the first leaf of the season. I picked it up from the sidewalk near my place. It is so early that it is still half green. It's a little torn too. But still worthy of a painting adds character.
$30 plus $10 S/H
