741 Willows Beach Kids

Today I painted at Willows Beach.  I wish kids would stay still for long enough. It was another windy day. This painting has some sand on it, literally.

712 Charlottetown PEI Winter Scene

Sold
Here's another Charlottetown scene. You can ski around town in December. But watch out for the cars. (The snow can be slippery like vaseline).

670 Floral Bouquet (In Progress)

I painted this bouquet using only the lights in the ceiling of the gallery. There was some light coming in from the window that changed over the course oft he painting somewhat. There's still work to as there's a motif on the fabric under the vase. Plus I'm not sure I like the turquoise background. The cast shadows need to be darker and more blue green. Hopefully the flowers will still be fresh enough tomorrow.

638 Shadowy Tulips

sold
More tulips. This time I used a spotlight for dramatic shadows, and a back cloth in complimentary colour to the tulips.

Below is the high tea painting I started the other day. I'm still working on it.  Tweeking.
High Tea step 2. A little more detail and colour.

604 Tulip's Last Day

click to bid
I never throw away tulips till all the petals fall off. I love the way they look right up till the end. These lasted a week since I bought them.

I haven't completed many paintings the last couple weeks due to a pinched nerve. Getting better now and I think the time off might give my work a new direction. Spring time is so beautiful here It's so exciting to see the fresh new colors of blossoms and longer daylight. (There is a seagull nest on my roof and one of the parents likes to sit on my railing watching me paint through the window).

575 Dried Flowers Study

I'm a house guest for a few days this week and didn't want to push my welcome by making a mess painting in my cousin's home. So I took out my water colours and painted flowers from the dried bouquet on her dining room table.

564 Chestnut Leaf

Here's a watercolour study I did of a chestnut leaf. The next block is lined with chestnut trees and chestnuts and leaves are covering the sidewalks.  There are so many beautiful colours and shapes in leaves. I'm like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to leaves. There's a pile of them on my table waiting to be painted. (I find it strange there are no insects on them as there would be in the summer....are they hibernating?)

553 Rue Jeanne-Mance

SOLD
This is another image from the neighbourhood where I grew up.  Montreal is especially lovely in the autumn with all the maple trees in colour. Parking is way difficult and they now have bicycle lanes running all over the place. Good thing there's lots of posts to chain your bike to.

552 Av du Parc

sold
This is a scene near my mother's home in Montreal. Why is rain so beautiful? I really enjoyed painting this. I used a larger painting I did a few years ago as a reference. (Usually it works the other way)

550 Charlottetown

Sold
Winter in Charlottetown is so pretty, and snowy. You can cross-country ski around the downtown area after a snowfall. The earth is so red that if you're new to PEI it might look like somethings been run over on the road on a slushy day. Those  towering steeples are from St Dunstan's Basilica.

537 Atlantic Holiday

Here's one I did from a photo a friend sent me of his family holiday in Miami. I loved the saturated colours of the beach umbrellas against the pale sea. This painting is on auction. To see the auction or just to take a closer look click here

532 The Critique

Sold
This is from a recent outing with some artist friends of mine.  I tried to keep it down to just a few major shapes. Look at that body language. I won't say any more on that lest I have to answer to it.
