Here's a little study I did for a painting I'm working on. This is one a miniature 4x4 canvas panel.

They changed the blogger interface.  The new one doesn't seem to work at all. I had to revert back temporarily to the old interface just to make this post work.

Sometimes they change things just to change things and it makes it dysfunctional. Sigh.

1190 Serrano's Mile End Scene, egg tempera, 8x10

Serrano's has been around at least since the seventies. I used to love bringing home a roast chicken (and bagels) for dinner.

1158 Shabbat, 8x10, egg tempera

sold-California

I considered calling this painting"Youth and Wisdom" but settled on Shabbat. What do you think?
It's a typical Montreal scene from the borough where I grew up.
I always put my paintings on eBay auction at a $100 start bid for the first week. It gives people a chance to buy them at an affordable price. If they don't sell I put them on "buy it now" for $200 OBO.  They do sell for that.... and I often accept a reasonable offer.
Today I listed this painting on auction but this time I am allowing people to make offers. Someone might be put off by having to wait for the auction to finish and this gives them an opportunity to buy it right away. I wonder how it will go.

I really enjoyed painting this. I used a few different techniques and I love the surface quality of the finished painting.

1122 The Young Musicians, 8x10, oil on board

1097 Shabbat, Mile End, 8x10 oil on board

I really like the high contrast in this painting. It is very dynamic and there's a lot happening but it's also very simplified and the centre of interest is very clear.
