Yesterday I went for a stroll on the grounds of St Anne's and just had to return today to paint. The lighting is so enchanting under the old fruit trees.
I just love sunflowers! I decided to do knife painting today partly because I loathe brush cleaning but mostly because I love the thick buttery impasto texture you get with this technique.
It was a lovely, not very cold, rainy morning yesterday. I found this enchanted tangle of branches under some rhododendrons that I just couldn't resist.
I was all excited about painting with the Alfrescoes at Mount Douglas yesterday but I just couldn't get committed to a painting. But theres always time for sketching. Here's a couple from my little sketch book.
