481 Rodo Garden

I spent the afternoon at Glendale Gardens. The Rodo Garden is bursting with colour and fragrance.
The hummingbirds and bees were feasting. They seem so happy!

Driftwood, acrylic on canvas 8x10

This morning at Holland Point. I used only cad yellow, quin magenta, cerulean blue and white. Not as much dark and light contrast.....cerulean blue is too light to get those darks.

Arbutus at Ellice House, 16x20 acrylic


Today's attempt at Point Ellice House. This stand of arbutus were so gnarl y and colorful. It was a challenge as the sun kept appearing and disappearing. And the gardener suddenly appeared half way through the painting and made some significant substractions to the flower bed.

Lavender Farm, 16x20 acrylic on canvas


Here's today's effort. A challenge in both perspective as well as color. I tried out Golden Open acrylics, which stay wet longer than regular acrylics. My pallet consisted of burnt sienna, yellow oacre, zinc and titanium white, pthalo green and blue and arylide yellow.
