This is this morning's plein air from Beaver Lake Lily Ponds. It was a real challenge to let go of my notions of what a lily pond looks like and to paint what my eyes see. Well, my interpretation anyways. It was a joy to paint. Afterwards several ducklings decided to lunch right in front of me.

ReplyDeleteThanks, I'm returning to the pond again Friday and I'll hopefully get a chance to try again, weather permitting. The sky reflection was actually much darker violet blue, gradating darker and warmer towards the bottom of the image, but I couldn't bring myself to go that dark. Next time I'll only do just the pond and really be true to the values and temperature of the reflections.
